Bishy Barnababes - Cuddly Carrier

Hi, I'm Vicki of Bishy Barnababes and I'm so excited to be taking part in the Pattern Parade 2016.

I'd like to share with you one of my favourite patterns, the Cuddly Carrier!

I always wore my daughter in a carrier when she was little and she sees many of my friends carrying their children in carriers too. She wanted to be able to do the same for her dolls and would ask for scarves so that I could tie her babies on. I decided to scale down the carrier I had made to carry her as a baby and add it to my animal themed pattern collection. I also simplified the fixings as toys don't move around or weigh as much as babies!

It was great to try out the prototype with my friends' children as they all wanted to be the one to wear it first! My daughter still regularly gets it out to use both around the house and when we are heading out for the day - definitely a win.

The pattern comes in 2 sizes - so is suitable for walking children through to around age 10 - and 6 animal options (bear, cat, mouse, monkey, fox and English badger). Alternatively, it can be made without the animal face and ears using a favourite fabric or adding appliqué. There are lots of Bishy Barnababes appliqué designs in the Etsy shop and also a butterfly appliqué that is available free in the Bishy Barnababes Facebook group and the dinosaur pattern which you get free when signing up to the Bishy Barnababes newsletter along with a 23 page free-motion appliqué tutorial.

They make great gifts and you can use of some of the fabric scraps that so many of us fabriholics collect. Which animal would you make for a child in your life?

Get the pattern here and use coupon code PARADE2016 to get 20% off until the end of the parade on Saturday.

Also take part in the raffle to win all the patterns featured in the Pattern Parade (if you purchase the pattern and then win the raffle, I will refund the purchase price).
